I Tried, I Failed

from end. by ALLDEADAYS

about

This is probably my favorite track off of the LP. The song itself has gone through numerous changes to sound and lyrics, all of which I will never forget. I wanted to add something more political to this song, but not so much that it became a huge slap in the face, so I tried to also interchange lyrics that were both relatable and pure. I think a lot of people are going to like it, considering also that I busted out some real emotional vocals.

lyrics

[chorus]
Men in black suits came to take me away
and where were you when they came?
I said men in black suits came to take me away
and where were you when they came?

[lyrics]
Should I be surprised
by the lies that you hide
in my life
Should I be surprised
by the lies in my. . .

Should I be surprised
by the lies that I
held in my life
Should I be surprised
should I be surprised by the lies?

[chorus]
And where the fuck were you
when I needed you?

And where the fuck were you
when I wanted to. . .

And where the fuck was I
when I died?

These people have the power to erase
everything (about us)

[lyrics]
Who do you
think you are
have you come
so far?

Who do you
want to be?
Pretend to believe you are
nothing to me.

Pessimist,
Syndicate,
Hypocrite,
what do you want from it?

Long ago
I believed
the world was
so beautiful

And now
all I see
is a place
I'd rather leave

[ambience]
And well I tried,
and I failed
I tried
and I failed

[chorus]
And where the fuck were you
when I needed you?
And where the fuck were you
when I wanted to?
And where the fuck was I
when I died?
And where the fuck. . .
were you?
